In a significant visit, the Ambassador of India to Nepal, His Excellency Mr. Naveen Srivastava, visited the Kathmandu sites of Seto Macchindranath Temple and Nepal Bhasa Parishad to observe and assess the ongoing conservation and retrofitting works being funded by the Government of India. Shri Koshnath Adhikari, Project Director, CLPIU (B&H) Govt of Nepal along with his team were also present. The INTACH team took the delegates around the site and highlighted the progress made in the ongoing works.
Work on foundation started on 27th March as per CLPIU approved proposal which is based on inputs given by Nepalese structural experts representing community/CLPIU.

Assessment of the Pinnacle of the temple (gajur) and structural members beneath it by INTACH structural expert on 16th March by CLPIU, contractor carpenter and metal worker.
Repair of Nago Khwa (metal figurehead) on tiered roof.
Timber work for retrofitting prototype.

A meeting was held to discuss on community’s viewpoints on the project and to resolve any existing issues.

Pit B was carefully dug till 1.5m at the Garva Griha wall. Work at Pit B stopped due to sand filling up the pit continuously from the sides. INTACH, CLPIU to discuss interventions to be taken for strengthening of foundation based on INTACH expert advice.
Foundation Pit Test 2 started. Inner Shrine (Garbha Griha still not made accessible by community to check the condition of the wall)

Contractor initiated the setting up of work yard, safety grill for the room where the idol shifted away from main shrine and preliminary site clearance during this period.
Idol from main building shifted to the ground floor of the nearby sattal and shed of Galvanized Sheet constructed in front of this area by the Contractor upon the request by the community

The Contract Agreements for the implementation of the Conservation and Retrofitting of Seto Macchindranath temple was signed on 11th February 2021, between the Project Director of CLPIU (Building) and Prakritik-Sanusuawal Pawan JV.
