Ground-breaking Ceremony to mark the start of work at Seto Macchindranath Temple

The Ambassador of India to Nepal Shri Vinay Mohan Kwatra, the Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority of Government of Nepal, Shri Sushil Gyewali, Mayor KMC Bidya Subdar Shakya and Dy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi. Gahiwali of Kathmandu Metropolitan City jointly carried out Bhoomi pooja on February 28th, 2021 at the project site to mark the startof work at Seto Macchindranath temple.

The event was attended by Shri Mani Ram Gelal, Secretary of NRA, Shri Nilkaji Shakya, Chairman of Ward-25, Shri Chandra Bahadur Shrestha, Executive Member of NRA, Shri Shyam Kishor Singh, PD, CLPIU (Building)of NRA, Sh Gopal Prasad Aryal, Joint Secretary in NRA, Shri Ram Bahudur Kunwar, Chief Executive of Department of Archaeology, Sh Sandeep Khanal, Chief Executive, Hanuman Dhoka Museum, Members of the User Committee of Seto Machindranath Temple and community members. The Head and officers of Development Partnership & Reconstruction Wing of Indian Embassy Officers were present at the ceremony.

The INTACH team was led by Principle Director Divay Gupta, AH Division. The INTACH Kathmandu Office and New Delhi staff worked with the Embassy of India, CLPIU (Building) and User Committee of Seto Macchindranath temple to make the event a success.  Information panels on the conservation and retrofitting works proposed by INTACH at Seto Machindranath was put up on-site during the ground-breaking ceremony.

The Newari community members of Jan Bahal area along with their neighbourhood where Seto Machindranath temple is located participated with fervour &enthusiasm in the Bhoomi pooja which was first of 28 cultural heritage reconstruction projects being taken up under Indian earthquake reconstruction grant.
